After receiving his bachelor’s in political science in 1997 from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California, Mr. Mann moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for political organizations and Congress members. He then joined the University of Nevada’s William S. Boyd School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 2002, gaining his license to practice in Nevada the same year.
Mr. Mann has also been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. In law school, he interned at the United States Attorney’s Office and for Nevada District Court Judge Michael Cherry. He was also a member of the university’s Juvenile Justice Legal Clinic and the moot court team.
After graduation, Mr. Mann worked as an appellate law clerk at the Clark County District Attorney’s office for several years before joining a criminal defense law firm in Las Vegas. Two years later, he decided to start his law firm, where he now represents individuals in all aspects of criminal cases, helping them obtain acquittals, sentence reduction, and case dismissals.
A licensed practitioner for over two decades, Mr. Mann has been honored with the Outstanding Service and Leadership award by the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice. - The client was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The client lived next door to a neighbor that was not acting appropriately. The client went over to confront the neighbor with a gun the client always carries. The client was arrested and taken to jail. The client had never been in trouble before and was extremely concerned about the client’s future. They hired Joel Mann and he got to work. Through the gathering of evidence it became apparent that the client upon knocking on the door, the neighbor immediately attacked the client. At the moment of being attacked, the client attempt to get her weapon out in self-defense. Joel went to the District Attorney with this evidence and made it clear that the case was not a good case.
