J. Douglas Clark is the founding owner of J. Douglas Clark, Attorney at Law Ltd., a Reno, Nevada-based sole practice renowned for its exemplary service in probate and trust litigation, estate planning, and alternative dispute resolution. With over four decades of dedicated legal practice, he has built a reputation as a formidable litigator and a compassionate counselor.
An academic standout, Mr. Clark earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in 1974, laying the groundwork for a career distinguished by both scholarship and service. After several years as a trust officer with The First National Bank of Nevada – where he refined his competence in fiduciary administration – he matriculated at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, graduating in 1979. That same year, he was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada and has been an active member ever since.
Early in his career, Mr. Clark served as a law clerk to the Honorable William N. Forman, a federal district judge whose mentorship deepened his understanding of courtroom procedure and judicial perspective. He later shared that knowledge as an adjunct professor of business law at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he inspired a new generation of legal minds.
A recognized leader within the profession, Mr. Clark was the founding president of the Probate Bar Association of Washoe County and held the presidency of the Estate Planning Council of Northern Nevada. He has chaired the State Bar of Nevada’s Probate and Trust Section, and continues to influence legislation through the bar’s Legislative Committee. His peers have also entrusted him with service on the State Bar of Nevada’s Board of Governors and as a settlement judge for the Nevada Supreme Court.
Mr. Clark’s commitment to excellence has earned him the AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a “Superb” score on Avvo. He has been selected for Nevada’s Legal Elite by Nevada Business Magazine and has received numerous other professional accolades.
