Attorney James D. Rosenberg is a partner with Shaheen & Gordon, P.A., law firm, which has five office locations throughout New Hampshire and Maine. Serving as co-chair of the firm's Criminal Defense Practice Group, Mr. Rosenberg focuses his practice on defending those accused of State and Federal crimes, including: white collar crimes, DWI, sexual assault, domestic violence, and other felonies and misdemeanors.
Early in his legal career, Mr. Rosenberg served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Criminal Justice Bureau of the New Hampshire Department of Justice/Office of the Attorney General. During his time as a prosecutor, he handled a wide variety of cases before the New Hampshire Superior Courts and other state and federal courts. He served as one of two prosecutors responsible for the investigation of the Diocese of Manchester for failing to protect children from sexually abusive clergy. He concluded his time at the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office as a Member of its Homicide Unit.
Mr. Rosenberg's experience as a prosecutor, blended with years as a criminal defense lawyer, has given him the ability to size up the State's case and craft the most effective path forward in defense of his clients. He has gained a reputation as one of the leading criminal defense lawyers in the region because of aggressive courtroom advocacy, skill in trial, ability to negotiate responsible results short of trial and comfort level doing so.

Mr. Rosenberg is a 1992 graduate of Concord High School in Concord, New Hampshire, a 1996 graduate of American University and earned his Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 1999. He is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Rosenberg is a member of the New Hampshire and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He previously served on the Professionalism Committee of the New Hampshire Bar Association. He is a former adjunct professor at the Franklin Pierce Law Center (now UNH Law) and Massachusetts School of Law, where he taught advanced appellate advocacy and White Collar Crime, and he has published articles and conducted lectures in the area on a variety of legal topics related to criminal defense, including plea bargaining and DWI/DUI cases.
