A highly regarded family law attorney, Sheryl J. Seiden is the founder of Seiden Family Law, based in Cranford, New Jersey. She provides representation to people in Union, Bergen, Essex, Somerset, Hudson, Monmouth, and Morris counties and other parts of the state who are going through divorce proceedings and who are thus having to deal with property division, child custody and visitation, and alimony and child support. Ms. Seiden is a Past Chair of the Family Law Section of the NJSBA. She has been on the Family Law Executive Committee for more than fifteen years. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New Jersey Chapter, and currently serving as the Secretary for AAML. She is slated to be President of AAML in 2024. She is a frequent lecturer for the NJ Institute of Continuing Legal Education. She is a co-author of a Book entitled "Divorce, Alimony and Property Division" by Gann Publishing. Ms. Seiden is a forceful advocate for her clients in the courtroom, but she also has experience in settling many of these matters through negotiation and mediation.
Other family law matters that Ms. Seiden regularly handles include the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements, the representation of domestic violence victims, grandparents' rights, and post-divorce order modifications. She has focused her practice exclusively on family law since 2000. Highly regarded by her colleagues for the manner in which she provides representation in cases that are often emotionally charged, Ms. Seiden has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, and she has received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.
Ms. Seiden holds a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from American University in Washington, D.C. She pursued her legal education at New York Law School and obtained her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1996. While she was there, Ms. Seiden was the managing editor of the New York Law Review. After graduation, she was an associate at several well-known law firms and then was a partner at a New Jersey family law firm before opening Seiden Family Law in 2016. Admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, Ms. Seiden is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
