After graduating with a B.A. in politics from Columbia University in 1979, Mr. Savits studied law at the New York University School of Law, earning his law degree in 1982. The same year, he was admitted to practice in New Jersey and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The following year, he gained admission in New York, and later, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. 

Mr. Savits stays up to date with the legal community by being a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association. He is also a national executive board member of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Furthermore, he has been selected to be a fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation.
