Missy Duarte

A partner at FWD Law Group, LLC, based in Hackensack, New Jersey, Missy Duarte provides dedicated representation to clients in personal injury and criminal defense matters. Her practice focuses on a wide range of cases, including car and trucking accidents, slip-and-fall incidents, premises liability, catastrophic injuries and wrongful death claims. She is committed to advocating for individuals facing serious legal challenges and works to secure meaningful results on their behalf.

In addition to her private practice, Ms. Duarte serves as an assistant public defender for the city of Hackensack. She previously held a similar role in Florida, where she represented clients in juvenile, county and circuit courts. Through this experience, she developed strong courtroom skills and a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system, which continues to inform her approach to both defense and civil litigation.

Ms. Duarte has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for her clients. She handles cases at every stage, from initial investigation through trial, and has extensive experience conducting depositions, arguing dispositive motions and negotiating with insurance carriers and opposing counsel. Known for her thorough preparation and client-focused approach, she strives to deliver practical and effective legal solutions.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Ms. Duarte is able to serve a diverse client base. She pursued her legal studies at Florida Coastal School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor and laid the foundation for her legal career in 2012 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University in 2008.

Admitted to practice in Florida and New Jersey, Ms. Duarte is a member of the New Jersey Association for Justice. She is also an active board member of the Main Street Business Alliance, supporting local businesses and community development initiatives. In 2014, she received the “Hat Trick” Award from the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
