Jason T. Brown is the principal of Brown, LLC, based in Jersey City, New Jersey. His practice focuses on whistleblower and qui tam matters, alongside a broad portfolio of complex civil litigation. He has led and litigated cases in both state and federal courts nationwide, achieving aggregate resolutions that approach – or by some measures, exceed – the billion-dollar threshold.
A seasoned trial attorney and former Special Agent and Legal Advisor with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mr. Brown brings deep investigative experience and courtroom acumen to his high-stakes litigation practice. Among his notable achievements, he was the first attorney in the nation to pursue a series of claims against Merck related to alleged injuries from one of the company’s products; after protracted litigation, that matter was resolved for $100,000,000.
Prior to private practice, Mr. Brown served as a legal advisor and special agent for the FBI, collaborating closely with the United States Attorney’s Office and providing legal guidance to numerous federal agencies, including the CIA, United States Secret Service, Immigration and Naturalization Services and the Department of Homeland Security. During his tenure, he was designated a Lead Agent on several high-profile investigations, including inquiries related to 9/11, the anthrax attacks and the Daniel Pearl kidnapping.
Recognized for both investigative skill and legal scholarship, Mr. Brown has received multiple commendations throughout his academic and professional career. He earned a top secret security clearance, has briefed senior executive branch officials on matters of national importance and is experienced in handling litigation that requires heightened security considerations. His earlier accomplishments include national debate champion honors, clerkship with a Superior Court judge, service as editor-in-chief of a law review and receipt of a national scholarship for a paper on intellectual property law.
Mr. Brown is known as a methodical, tenacious litigator with a keen strategic eye for complex litigation. He has tried difficult matters – including collective and class actions – to verdict in both state and federal forums, and has successfully represented clients in cases ranging from catastrophic personal injury to False Claims Act and qui tam litigation.
Committed to vindicating the rights of injured and aggrieved individuals, Mr. Brown approaches every matter with relentless preparation and strategic focus. Given the firm’s substantial workload and the high stakes of the cases he accepts, he is selective about the matters he takes on, concentrating on litigation of significant consequence for his clients.
