David Edelberg

David Edelberg, a partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck, LLC, is a valued member of the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. His primary focus lies in debtor representation, creditors' rights, and banking and financial services litigation.

As the lead counsel in the Chapter 11 reorganizations of Country Inns Magazine and The Westin Governor Morris, Mr. Edelberg played a pivotal role in navigating the complex legal landscape. Moreover, he assumed the lead counsel position for the creditors' committee in the NBO Menswear case. His involvement also expanded to the reorganizations of Grand Union, Emerson Radio Corporation, Kiwi International Air Lines, Channel Home Centers and Union Valley Corp.

Furthermore, Mr. Edelberg provided legal representation for bankruptcy trustees in several noteworthy Chapter 11 proceedings. Notable cases include a shopping center with a valuation exceeding $11 million, 33 acres of vacant land sold for approximately $6 million and a hotel property sold for around $3 million.

Mr. Edelberg graduated with a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1983 and a B.S. in environmental science from Rutgers University in 1980. He is the distinguished recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Bankruptcy. Currently, he holds significant leadership roles, including chairing the Bankruptcy Law Section within the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Law Committee of the Bergen County Bar Association. In addition to his trustee role at the New Jersey State Bar Association, he has served as the president of the Bergen County Bar Association. He is also recognized as an esteemed American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) member.

Appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to serve on the District Ethics Committee, specifically in District II-B, Mr. Edelberg holds an AV Preeminent* rating through Martindale-Hubbell. He has consistently earned recognition on Bergen County’s Top Lawyers list in 201 Magazine, maintaining his presence from 2012 to now.

With a wealth of knowledge in bankruptcy law, Mr. Edelberg has authored numerous articles on the subject. He has been a featured lecturer at institutions such as the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Seton Hall University's Stillman School of Business, Bergen Community College, the National Business Institute and other academic venues.
