Over the course of his career spanning almost half a century, Laurence J. Cutler has firmly established himself as an authority on family law in New Jersey, having published and taught extensively on all manner of matrimonial law topics, from arbitration and mediation and all other facets of matrimonial law. In 2012, Mr. Cutler joined Laufer, Dalena, Jensen & Bradley, LLC, in Morristown after a distinguished career as both a founding partner of Cutler, Simeone, Townsend, Tomaio & Newmark, LLC, and partner of Fox Rothschild LLP.
Mr. Cutler has played an instrumental role in defining matrimonial law in New Jersey: His five-volume treatise "New Jersey Family Law Practice" has been cited by the both the Superior Court of New Jersey and the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Almost every lawyer in New Jersey involved in matrimonial law uses this seminal work. Mr. Cutler also holds three certifications: one from the Supreme Court of New Jersey and two from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has been admitted to practice before state courts in New York and New Jersey in addition to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Cutler's list of published works, awards, memberships in professional associations and the offices within them that he has held is expansive. Select highlights include receiving the prestigious Alfred C. Clapp Award from the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, founding the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and recipient of its noted "Fellow of the Year" Award, chair of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and recipient of its coveted Tishler Award, and serving on six committees for the Supreme Court of New Jersey. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in 1967 from American University, Mr. Cutler received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1970.
