Anthony Pope

His roughly 30 years of experience as a criminal defense attorney included the handling of complex and high-profile criminal cases. His knowledge of police procedures acquired during his distinguished career as a detective and as a prosecutor gives him a unique insight into how criminal cases are handled.

Mr. Pope graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts before going on to earn his Juris Doctor in 1986 from Rutgers Law School. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the District of Columbia and New York, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Pope worked as an assistant prosecutor in the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Mr. Pope has successfully defended individuals in political corruption, fraud and other white collar crimes, capital murder charges and other high-profile cases. One such case involved his obtaining an acquittal on behalf of a client charged with “air rage” toward a Continental Airlines employee.

Mr. Pope is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and The District of Columbia Bar. Certified as a criminal defense attorney by the Board on Attorney Certification of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, he has appeared on several television news programs to offer his insight and opinions on criminal defense.
