Joseph J. Rodgers is the principal attorney at the firm Joseph J. Rodgers Chartered, which is headquartered in Northfield, New Jersey. Mr. Rodgers worked as a Deputy Attorney General for New Jersey's Department of Criminal Justice, an assistant prosecutor for Passaic County, and a first assistant prosecutor for Cape May County before going into private practice. Additionally, he worked as the Avalon and Wildwood Crest Borough Prosecutor.
Enthusiastic in his involvement with the legal community, Mr. Rodgers has memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey, the Supreme Court Committee on the Rules of Evidence, the American Bar Association and the Vincent S. Haneman American Inn of Court. He is also a former Trustee and Legislative Committee chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Mr. Rodgers volunteers much of his time providing pro bono services to those who cannot afford legal representation. He serves as a volunteer public defender at the Superior Court of New Jersey family division, taking on cases related to domestic violence and contempt of court. - Volunteer judge for the Vincent J. Appruzzese High School Mock Trial Competition in Cape May County. The statewide program for high school students who have an interest in the law. Students work as school teams researching a case, preparing themselves as attorneys and witnesses for a mock trial presented to attorneys and judges. Winners compete in the statewide competition each year.
