Attorney Christopher T. Karounos is Certified by the N.J. Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney, and is the owner and managing member of THE KAROUNOS LAW FIRM, LLC, in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Mr. Karounos practices business litigation, personal injury, and civil litigation primarily serving clients in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic and Union Counties in New Jersey.
Mr. Karounos has more than 10 years of experience handling cases involving civil, commercial, family, liquor and personal injury law. In addition to having substantial litigation experience, he has served as an approved mediator, listed on the Supreme Court of New Jersey’s Roster of Mediators, and is currently certified to serve as an Arbitrator for the New Jersey Superior Court..
Serving his legal community in a variety of ways, Mr. Karounos is a former adjunct professor of law at Rutgers Law School in Newark, and spent several years serving as head coach of the Rutgers Law-National Mock Trial Team. He regularly speaks on trial skills for seminars and conferences.
An active member of several professional organizations, Mr. Karounos belongs to the Bergen County Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the New Jersey Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. He is a Past-President of the Hellenic American Bar Association of New Jersey. Mr. Karounos is also a Barrister with the Bergen County Pashman Civil Inns of Court.
Mr. Karounos earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College, New Brunswick and received his law degree from Rutgers Law School in Newark. He is eligible to practice law in all New Jersey State and Federal Courts and the 3rd Circuit Court Appeals.
Before founding his practice in 2013, Mr. Karounos practiced as a litigation associate at Lowenstein Sandler, PC and Archer & Greiner PC (formerly known as Herten Burstein PC in Hackensack, N.J.). Upon graduating Rutgers Law he clerked for Bergen County Superior Court Judge Menelaos W. Toskos, J.S.C.
