George Tenreiro is the founding and managing attorney of Tenreiro Law LLC in Roseland, New Jersey. His practice is devoted exclusively to immigration law, and he has earned a distinguished reputation defending clients nationwide in both humanitarian applications and removal (deportation) proceedings.
Mr. Tenreiro’s competence spans a broad range of asylum matters, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitions and appeals of Form I-751 denials. In removal proceedings, he diligently pursues all available forms of relief or seeks to terminate the case altogether. He also assists families in obtaining visas – most commonly through marriage petitions – and guides lawful permanent residents through the naturalization process via Form N-400.
A fervent advocate for LGBTQ+ and other persecuted communities, Mr. Tenreiro has secured asylum for countless individuals, enabling them to remain in the United States with work authorization, access to federal and state benefits, and a clear path to citizenship. Throughout his career, he has represented clients from more than forty countries, including Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia and more.
Mr. Tenreiro received his J.D. in 2004 from Rutgers School of Law – where he served as articles editor of the Rutgers Law Review – after earning a B.A. in psychology from Rutgers University in 1996. He is admitted to practice in:
- New Jersey (2004)
- New York (2006)
- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit
- The U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York
- The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey
An accomplished author, Mr. Tenreiro wrote “E-Discovery: If It Is Recoverable, It Is Discoverable” for the NJSBA Banking Law Section Newsletter (2004) and contributed to the Practice Law Institute’s Antitrust Issues in Licensing handbook (2005–06). He has appeared as a panel member at the United Nations and NGO premiere screening of the documentary “The Invisible Men” and as a guest on BBC’s London Calling.
