James A. Maggs

James A. Maggs is the co-founder and managing partner of the Wall Township, New Jersey, law firm of Maggs McDermott & DiCicco. He serves as the personal guide for his clients by combining his deep legal and business knowledge to help them navigate through their difficult situations. He represents clients from across central New Jersey in a variety of legal issues, including:

He also ensures his clients understand their rights and the options available to them, giving them a sense of control and reducing their anxiety.

Majoring in accounting, Mr. Maggs completed his bachelor’s degree in 1986 at Villanova University. He went to Seton Hall School of Law and received his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1991. At law school, he was instrumental in establishing the journal of Constitutional Law and functioned as the editor-in-chief. After completing his law degree, he worked in two top New Jersey law firms. He also worked as a tax accountant for two international “Big 8” accounting firms.

A licensed member of the New Jersey State Bar Association since 1991, Mr. Maggs is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County.

Mr. Maggs is a great supporter of numerous initiatives for the community to bridge the social, economic and political gaps. He is currently the president of the DG Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting education, health care and other charitable endeavors. He has received constant recognition from others in the legal community as one of the most highly regarded lawyers in the region for many years now.
