    Robert G. Stahl is the founder of Stahl Criminal Defense Lawyers. With offices in Westfield, New Jersey and Manhattan, he focuses his practice exclusively on criminal defense, assisting individuals and corporations who are being investigated or charged with serious federal or state crimes such as health care fraud, securities violations, embezzlement, money laundering, wire and mail fraud, FDA violations and aggravated identity theft. Mr. Stahl also defends clients who are facing serious drug trafficking charges and murder.     Mr. Stahl graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law and was a fianalist in the National Moot Court Competition before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 1989. After graduation, Mr. Stahl served a clerkship for a judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and then served for six years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the United States Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey before entering private practice in 1997. Admitted to practice in New Jersey, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

    Mr. Stahl is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, recognized as the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America. Certified as a criminal trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Mr. Stahl has earned the respect of his colleagues for the work he has done for his clients.     • Represented large landscaper who failed to report and pay-over $1 million in payroll and other taxes, client received one day incarceration at Marshal's Service and probation. 
    • Represented a pharmacy owner who was charged in 2012 in a multi-million dollar online pharmacy scheme that involved a number of physicians prescribing medications without personal examination. After almost 2 years of investigation, the use of experts and extensive motions practice, the government agreed to reduce very serious charges and the defendant plead to one count, receiving probation. Forfeiture and restitution were also dramatically reduced., 2014
    • Represented an attorney at Ropes & Gray who was charged in the Galleon Hedge Fund case in SDNY. A very favorable cooperating plea deal was negotiated, as well as a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). A thorough and persuasive Sentencing Submission resulted in a sentence of 6 months in Community Correctional Center, rather than 3 years in federal prison., 2011
    • Represented a former Marine and Hasbrouck Heights police officer who plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter and other charges in connection with the death of a long-time friend. The defendant could faced more than 50 years in a New Jersey State prison, but was sentenced to 25 years of incarceration after intense negotiations with prosecutors., 2015
