As the founder of Westwood, New Jersey-based firm Malatino & Elko, LLC, attorney Michael Malatino has a long history of successfully securing significant settlements in workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other employment-related issues. In addition, he offers his legal proficiency in employment contract disagreements, as well as issues surrounding noncompetition, nonsolicitation pacts and other exclusive agreements.
Following the completion of his undergraduate studies at The College of New Jersey, Mr. Malatino earned his J.D. cum laude from the Duquesne University Thomas R. Kline School of Law. As a law student, he interned under the guidance of the Hon. W. Terrence O’Brien of the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas and the Hon. Mary Jane Bowes of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Also, he aided families dealing with mortgage troubles resulting from the 2008 housing crisis via the Urban League of the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
Post-law school, Mr. Malatino fulfilled the role of a law clerk to Hon. Kenneth J. Slomienski, J.S.C., in Bergen County before commencing his private practice. Known for his perseverance and commitment, he is on the executive committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA). He is affiliated with the New Jersey division of the National Employment Lawyers Association. He also serves as a staff editor for Labor and Employment Law Quarterly.
Furthermore, Mr. Malatino contributes through his written articles and regular speaker engagements for the NJSBA’s Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Rated “Superb” on Avvo, Bergen Magazine has selected him to be included in its 2023 Top Lawyers list in the Labor and Employment law category.
