Alexandra (Alex) Cervantes is a New Mexico trial lawyer who represents patients and families who have suffered life-altering injuries at the hands of large corporations and healthcare providers. This past year alone, Alex secured more than $30 million in jury verdicts for her clients.
Alex was born and raised in Las Cruces, and is a proud New Mexican. Before becoming a lawyer, she planned a career in medicine, got her degrees in Biology and Psychology, and began medical school training. Seeing firsthand how people could be harmed by corporations’ systemic failures, she shifted gears to pursue a law degree so she could advocate for people on a broader level.
Alex graduated first in her law school class, and clerked for two federal judges—first on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and then on the district court for the District of Wyoming.
Now, Alex uses her science background in her practice of law, analyzing accident reconstruction data, decoding complex records, and working with experts to figure out what went wrong. She brings an intellectual rigor to the courtroom, where she is known for meticulous preparation, a deep command of both medicine and law, and clear, persuasive trial advocacy.
In addition to representing clients, Alex teaches advanced evidence at the University of New Mexico School of law. She also volunteers with abused and neglected children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and serves as President of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Foundation.
Above all, Alex cares deeply about the people of New Mexico. Whether in the courtroom, the classroom, or out in the community, her goal is always the same: to protect, support, and advocate for those who need it most.
