After earning his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2008, Mr. Mazel went on to be admitted to practice law before the state courts of New Mexico the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Mazel was appointed to the board of directors of the State Bar of New Mexico’s Bankruptcy Law Section in 2013, and he served as the board’s president in 2016. Mr. Mazel sits on the Bankruptcy Trustee Panel for the District of New Mexico, and he has been awarded the Medal of Excellence in Bankruptcy by the American Bankruptcy Institute.

While Mr. Mazel has developed a reputation as a fierce advocate and litigator, he is also known as a skilled negotiator who seeks to avoid necessary conflict. He is a recipient of the Judge Oliver Seth Award for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and he has also participated in arbitration programs operated by the State Bar of New Mexico.
