Along with practicing before all New Mexico state courts, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.

A leader in his legal community, Mr. MacKenzie is the former president of the Albuquerque Lawyers Club and the New Mexico Guardianship Association. He also served on the House Joint Memorial 34 Task Force on Guardianship Reform in 2007 and the 2008 House Memorial 6 Task Force on Guardianship Reform, where he served as chairman of the Post-Adjudication Committee.
