Attorney Randy W. Powers, Jr., is the owner of Powers Family Law, LLC firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Although a highly effective trial attorney, Mr. Powers prefers to help his clients negotiate favorable settlements outside of court, and he has handled numerous settlement facilitations as well as arbitrations. A 2006 honors graduate of the University of New Mexico and recipient of the Ben L. Roberts Scholarship, Mr. Powers obtained his Juris Doctor from Arizona Summit School of Law in 2011. The recipient of an Academic Merit Scholarship, he also received a CALI Award for his outstanding academic achievements in family law as well as trial practice. Since entering private practice, he continues to earn accolades from his peers, receiving top rankings from various peer review sources.
A leader in his field, Mr. Powers is a former board of directors member of the Albuquerque Bar Association, and he currently serves as panelist for the New Mexico Medical Review Commission. He has also served on the New Mexico Reconvened Alimony Guidelines Committee, which addresses the changes in alimony regulations resulting from the 2017 tax law revisions. Mr. Powers has also conducted lectures and seminars on a variety of legal topics involving real estate and divorce, spousal support, prenuptial agreements, and other subjects.
Committed to his local community as well, Mr. Powers routinely volunteers his time and services with civic and charitable organizations in his area, including the Ronald McDonald House, the Boy Scouts of America and the All Faiths organization, where he has served on the board of directors and was heavily involved with the Receiving Home Donor Retention Marketing Research Project.
