From the Albuquerque law firm of Batley Family Law, P.A., partner Roberta S. Batley is committed to guiding families in New Mexico through legal decisions. Her family law practice is focused on handling cases that involve issues such as divorce and surrogacy.
A trained collaborative attorney, Ms. Batley is also a certified family law specialist through the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization. She puts her skills to good use as she helps people navigate some of the most difficult times of their lives. Through working with forensic accountants and other professionals, she is able to find solutions that best serve her clients' interests. Additionally, Ms. Batley grew up in a family that owned a business, giving her a keen insight into how these companies work and the emotional attachments people have to them.
In addition to her passion for helping people through divorce, Ms. Batley practices Assisted Reproductive Technology law. She represents gestational carriers, donors and intended parents build families.Â
Prior to launching her legal career, Ms. Batley graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from The University of New Mexico in 1993. She then earned a Juris Doctor from The University of New Mexico School of Law in 1995.
Since then, Ms. Batley has accumulated multiple awards for the work she has done. She has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America; she has earned the highest peer rating possible of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell; she has been featured in New Mexico Business Weekly's Best of the Bar list; and she holds an Avvo "Superb" rating.
Ms. Batley is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, one of only 100 members in the country. In addition, she is a Fellow of the International Acadamy of Family Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyer and serves on their Board of Governors. Ms. Batley is an active member of the American Bar Association's Family Law Section and acted as Chair of the Section in 2017-2018. She combines her support of the New Mexico Bar and the ABA by representing the NM State Bar as a Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates.
Ms. Batley is also proud of her work on the Advisory Board for the Honoring Families Initiative of the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System. This organization works to reform the legal system across the country with research and innovations.
