Joseph Cervantes

A personal injury attorney with Cervantes Scherr Legate, L.C., Joseph Cervantes represents clients in New Mexico in injury matters related to medical malpractice, trucking accidents and wrongful death. A New Mexico State Senator and Licensed Architect in the state of California, his range of experience and knowledge encompasses a wide variety of topics. For almost three decades, he has represented those who have been injured by another.

Mr. Cervantes attended the University of New Mexico, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 1983. At California Polytechnic State University, he earned a master’s degree in architecture in 1985 before attending law school. In 1991, he graduated with his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law and was a member of the Law Review and on the National Moot Court and Mock Trial Teams.

A member of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, Mr. Cervantes is also a member of the State Bar of New Mexico and an associate member of the American Institute of Architects. He is also a Commissioner for the New Mexico Uniform Law Commission and a former member of the Inn of Courts.

One of his largest and most historic cases involved FedEx, where he worked with his colleagues to obtain a $165 million judgment, which the National Law Journal named the largest motor vehicle verdict in the United States at the time. He brings decades of experience, a long history of success and a passion for the underdog to every case that he works on.
