Admitted to practice before all New York state courts, Mr. Shapiro is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

    Mr. Shapiro has significant experience in providing defense representation to clients who are parties to lawsuits involving partner and shareholder disputes, labor and employment cases, commercial real estate, dissolutions and bank transactions. He also assists governmental agencies who have been accused of civil rights violations under Section 1983 and other federal statutes. Mr. Shapiro has been able to obtain positive results in many of these matters, whether through dismissals, jury verdicts or the negotiation of favorable settlement agreements.

    As an undergraduate, Mr. Shapiro attended the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he majored in political science and was a summer intern for former Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton before receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 2005. He then went on to pursue his legal education at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. While he was there, Mr. Shapiro served on the Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal and participated in the Robert F. Wagner Labor and Employment Law Competition before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 2008. He also was a summer intern for a judge on the Queens County Supreme Court, Civil Term. Mr. Shapiro has been with Jaspan Schlesinger, LLP, for his entire career.
