Attorney Profile

A lawyer for nearly four decades, Devon Reiff has headed Devon Reiff P.C. since 2007.  He is also currently a member of the Sacks and Sacks, LLP Law firm, as discussed below. Devon's law practice experience has included personal injury and wrongful death litigation, representing clients who have been harmed by another party's negligence or recklessness in cases involving construction site accidents, motor vehicle crashes, defects in premises causing trip, slip and falls, animal bites, medical malpractice and negligent health care in nursing homes, and defective dangerous products. Mr. Reiff also handles cases involving suing a government agency of the City or State of New York because of the negligence of one or more of its employees in the operation of City State vehicles, machinery, poor maintence of roadways, sidewalks, bridges and properties. He has also handled cases involving excessive use of force or brutality by the police.  He represents union members and non union construction trade workers, sanitation workers, and other workers who are injured on the job and entilted to worker's compensation.

Mr. Reiff graduated the nationally highly ranked Fordham University and Fordham School of Law in NYC.  After law school graduation, Mr. Reiff joined the New York City Law Department.  As a member of the well respected Manhattan Trial Unit he spent several years in the court room handling back to back trials before entering private practice with a firm that handled plaintiff's negligence, workers' compensation and Social Security Disability. He started his own law firm in 2007.  Later, he also became a member of the prestigious construction site accident litigation firm, Sacks and Sacks LLP of New York City, (S&S) . S&S is a trial lawyer law firm for the construction trade unions, whose clients include structural-steel ironworkers, journeymen ornamental ironworkers , laborers, steamfitters, lathers, bridge painters, carpenters, and others.  Admitted to practice in New York, Mr. Reiff is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Some of Mr. Reiff’s early career successes on behalf of his clients include a $4.3 million jury verdict for a union construction worker window mechanic, $3.5 million jury verdict for a union construction worker electrician, a $3.5 million jury verdict for a taxi driver who was shot due to the failure of apartment building security devices and a $3.6 million settlement for a pedestrian hit-and-run victim. In 2016 he won a $1.82 million jury award for a victim of police brutality and in 2017 won a settlement of $2.1 million for a taxi driver struck by a UPS truck.  At S&S in 2016 he and a fellow S&S trial attorney, James McCrorie, won a $13.7 million jury verdict for a S&S client who was a union steamfitter construction worker and whose case was handled for S&S by Devon throughout its entire litigation. In that case, Mr. Reiff, on behalf of S&S, obtained one of the highest recorded jury awards specifically for the plaintiff's wife for her derivative claim for loss of companionship and support in the amount of $3.3 millon.  In 2017, a fellow S&S client union steamfitter who was involved in the same above mentioned accident whose case was handled by Devon throughout its litigation history and subsequently tried by Mr. McCrorie resulted in a $6.3 million settlement during the trial just before summations. In 2017 at S&S, cases which Mr. Reiff handled from start to finish for S&S resulted in $6.5 and $3.8 million settlements for S&S union construction iron workers. Reiff's fellow professionals have taken notice of his successes, as evidenced by his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo, along with selection to the Best Lawyers from 2016 through 2018.
