    Over the course of his career, Mr. Sivin has successfully argued many significant appeals that have set legal precedents providing better protections for victims of police misconduct and prison abuse.  He has also obtained substantial verdicts and settlements on behalf of victims of police misconduct, including those who have been subject to excessive force, false arrest, and malicious prosecution, and victims of abuse by correction officers and staff.

    Mr. Sivin received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and earned his law degree from Rutgers Law School in Camden, New Jersey. While pursuing his law degree, he served as an editor of the law review.

    Following law school, Mr. Sivin obtained his license to practice law in 1982, which qualified him to appear before all New York state courts.  He also is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  He also is licensed to practice law in New Jersey.

    Representative Clients:

    • George Williams was assaulted by corrections officers at Attica Correctional Facility and suffered extensive injuries as a result. He suffered broken shoulder, several cracked ribs, two broken legs (one of which required surgery), and several facial fractures including his orbit surrounding his left eye. As a result of this incident, for the first time in state history criminal charges were brought against the corrections officers for an incident not involving sexual assault. Glenn Miller is now the trial attorney handling Mr. Williams' civil case.
