Jacqueline Newman

Jacqueline Newman joined Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein LLP in 1998 and currently serves as the firm’s Managing Partner. Her practice encompasses litigation, collaborative law, and mediation, with a focus on complex high-net-worth matrimonial matters and the negotiation of prenuptial agreements.

Ms. Newman is the author of The New Rules of Divorce: Twelve Secrets to Protecting Your Wealth, Health and Happiness, published by Simon & Schuster in January 2020. She is a frequent expert commentator on television and radio and has been widely quoted in national and international media, including Fox Business, NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, U.S. News & World Report, Business Insider, Time.com, USA Today, CNBC.com, Reuters, The New York Post, Glamour, Woman’s Day, Yahoo Parenting, and The Huffington Post.

In addition to her practice, Ms. Newman is deeply committed to legal education. She is an Adjunct Professor at Cardozo School of Law, where she teaches Divorce Processes. She previously taught Family Law Practice at Fordham University School of Law with Barry Berkman. She has also taught Collaborative Family Law for the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals and the Center for Mediation in Law, as well as Introduction to Matrimonial Law for Collaborative Divorce Professionals for the New York State Unified Court System. Ms. Newman has served as a LexisNexis Practice Adviser and has authored practice guides in matrimonial law. In 2021, she earned a Certificate in Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School Online.

Ms. Newman’s professional accomplishments and reputation for ethical standards have earned her the AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Since 2019, she has been ranked by Chambers and Partners as a Family/Matrimonial attorney serving high-net-worth clients in New York. She has been recognized in Thomson Reuters New York-Metro Super Lawyers Top 50 Women Attorneys since 2013 and Best Lawyers in America since 2016. Since 2022, she has also been named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in New York City by Super Lawyers.

Ms. Newman is also the co-founder of the charitable initiative The Gift of Giving Store, which partners with organizations serving families impacted by domestic abuse.
