    With over 40 years of experience in immigration law, Jan H. Brown is the founding member of  The Law Offices of Jan H. Brown P.C., based in New York City.  He represents businesses and individuals who have immigration matters in a wide range of industries such as  arts and entertainment, information and communication, computer technologies, financial services, health care and science, special markets, and manufacturing, retail and distribution.

    Mr. Brown represents individuals and firms before Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States Department of State, the United States Department of Labor and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. A longtime editorial review of  Kurzban’s Immigration Law Sourcebook, he is also a senior editor for the Immigration and Nationality Law Handbook.

    A former chair of the New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Mr. Brown is currently the co-chair of the Immigration and Nationality Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s International Section. He is a contributing author for Immigration Daily and the Huffington Post and has discussed immigration issues on the following television shows: WPIX News at Ten, WNBC New York Live at Five and WABC Eyewitness News.

    After graduating with his Juris Doctor in 1977 from Western New England University School of Law, he was admitted to practice in 1978. A popular lecturer, Mr. Brown has presented for organizations such as Pace Law School, the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Continuing Legal Education events and at NYSBA International Section conferences . His lecture topics include examining and understanding immigration documents, fiancé visas, business immigration, common-law marriage, illegal practice by unlicensed practitioners, and family immigration trends.
