    A highly regarded litigation attorney, Kevin J. O’Brien is a co-founder of Ford O’Brien, LLP. Mr. O’Brien has been admitted to practice before all New York state courts since 1980.

    A significant portion of Mr. O’Brien’s practice is centered on the representation of investment advisers, brokers, executives and other financial professionals who have been charged by the state or federal government with having committed white collar felony offenses. He has had substantial success in obtaining acquittals or charge dismissals for many of his clients throughout his distinguished career. In one such case, Mr. O’Brien represented the chief executive officer of a New York City-based hedge fund who was facing several felony counts, including investment fraud, securities fraud and conspiracy. After a trial that lasted for more than two months, his client was acquitted by the jury on all charges.

    Mr. O’Brien also assists clients who are the subject of investigations being conducted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc., and other public and private regulatory organizations. He has a thriving civil litigation practice as well, and in all, he has taken numerous trials to verdict and has participated in several proceedings before panels of arbitrators.

    Mr. O’Brien’s successful track record has earned him a great deal of recognition from his fellow attorneys, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. Prior to entering private practice, he held several government positions, including serving as an assistant U.S. attorney. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
