Michael K. Bachrach practices in both Federal and State courts at all stages of trial and appeal, and has participated in approximately 24 Federal death penalty cases and one – as an expert – in North Carolina State court. Michael’s current and past clients include: the first and thus far only Guantanamo Bay detainee to be transferred to civilian custody for trial; the former acting boss of the Bonnano organized crime family; a New York State Assemblyman; and one of two defendants indicted for the life insurance related deaths of four people in New York and Guyana. In 2012, Michael was honored by the New York State Bar Association for Courageous Efforts in Promoting Integrity in the Criminal Justice System, and in 2015 Michael became a Fellow in the American Bar Foundation. Michael is a Past-President of the New York Criminal Bar Association and has tought continuing legal education in New York and in California.
