Attorney Richard E. Mischel is a founding partner of the Mischel & Horn, P.C., law firm in New York City. Serving clients throughout New York and New Jersey, Mr. Mischel focuses his practice primarily on criminal and civil appeals. In addition, he also represents other attorneys during disciplinary hearings as well as those seeking reinstatement to the bar following disbarment or a suspension of their licenses.

During the course of his long and distinguished career, Mr. Mischel has earned recognition as one of the country's leading appellate lawyers. Along with successfully presenting appeals before various state and federal appellate courts, he completed a three-year tenure as the deputy chief of the Appeals Bureau for the Kings County District Attorney's Office. In addition, he also served as principal law secretary to the presiding justice of the Appellate Division of the Second Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

An accomplished author and lecturer, Mr. Mischel has written extensively and conducted numerous seminars across the country on a variety of legal topics related to criminal and civil appeals, and he served as co-editor for the New York Criminal Practice Handbook for the New York State Bar Association.

Recognized for his impeccable professionalism and unprecedented success as an appellate attorney, Mr. Mischel has received several awards and honors throughout his career, including the Practitioner of the Year award from the Kings County Criminal Bar Association. In addition, the Kings County District Attorney's Office recognized him for his outstanding service and dedication to excellence as an assistant district attorney and deputy chief. Mr. Mischel obtained his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1973 from the University at Buffalo School of Law. Along with being licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. He can also legally practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.
