    After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 from Boston College, Ms. Lightcap earned her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1988. She is licensed to practice law in New York, and was admitted to the Massachusetts bar. She is admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of New York and the U.S. Supreme Court.

    In addition to having served as chair for the Fayetteville-Manlius School District’s Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee, Ms. Lightcap also serves as chair for the Town of Pompey’s Democratic Committee. She also served as a member of the Joint Fire District Advisory Committee and the Town of Pompey’s Wind Energy Advisory Committee. Ms. Lightcap is an active member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and has been a speaker for continuing legal education seminars on various personal injury topics.

    • Gas Terminal Fails To Remove Ice - $700,000 Settlement, 2020
    • Rear Seat Passenger Receives $700,000 Settlement A distracted driver crossed the center road and hit a car with four adults in it.  All of the adults were injured, but the passenger seated behind the driver took the brunt of the impact.  Being 6’4” and riding in a compact car resulted in our clients head striking the top of the car.  The force of the impact spit his skin on his forehead leaving a significant scar.  The defense claimed had our client been wearing his seatbelt he would not have sustained an injury at all.  Trial Partner Victoria Lightcap was able to show with an animation that regardless of whether he had his seatbelt on or not, his head still would have hit the ceiling of the car and likely sustained the same injury.  The case was settled at a mediation for $700,000., 2019

    • Motorcyclist Hit by Distracted Driver – Verdict $275,000, 2017
    • 450K-Settlement during Trial-was negotiated on behalf of a 35 year old Broome County construction worker injured while on the job.
    • 700K+ Clients vehicle struck by municipal dump truck. Client had fibromyalgia and shoulder surgery.
    • Chautauqua New York, a Utility worker slipped and fell on ice when reading a meter and suffered aggravation of low back and cervical herniations which required numerous surgeries. Mediated settlement  $1.5 million.   Broome County New York, hockey fan slipped and fell into unguarded pit and suffered significant ankle injury which required multiple surgeries. Case was tried, appealed and settled for $600,000.00 just before new trial.  Oneonta, New York, college maintenence worker was rearended and suffered serious injuries to his neck requiring surgery. Case settled for the policy limit of $250,000.00  just before trial. Cooperstown, New York, motorcycle driver was struck in parking lot and suffered injuries to his knee and back. Case settled before trial for $169,000.00. Utica, New York, motorcycle driver was rearended and settled for the policy limit. SUM arbitration held and the client, who suffered from mild traumatic brain injury, was awarded $175,000.00.     
    • 650K-Settlement before Trial-was awarded to an Onondaga County male who sustained a deep brain injury with neurological complications as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
    • 583K+ Verdict-Pedestrian knock down in parking lot in Broome County. Client had surgery for multi-ligament tears.
    • $281,000 - Motor Vehicle Accident - Jury Verdict  , 2016
    • $247,000 Settlement - Reckless Driver Held Accountable, 2017
    • 1.5 million dollar settlement for plaintiff injured in rearend collision, for cervical spine injury with anterior cervical discectomy  with fusion.   
    • 240K-Settlement before Trial-was negotiated in favor of a 39 year old Broome County male who sustained a serious back injury as a result of a rear end motor vehicle accident.
    • 470K+ Intersection accident- defendants truck made left hand turn in front of clients vehicle. Client was out of work for 2 yrs with shoulder injury, returned to work with limitations. Case went up on appeal after trial and verdict was affirmed.
