James T. Mr. Towne completed his undergraduate studies in 1971, graduating with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian literature and Russian history from the University of Vermont. He went on to enroll at the Albany Law School and received his Juris Doctor in 1975. A year later, he obtained his license to practice law in New York, and he later became licensed to practice law in Vermont.
Mr. Towne is admitted to practice before all the federal district courts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of Vermont, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Bar and the Seneca Nation Probate Counsel, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.
