Jacob Oresky is a personal injury lawyer and the founding member of Oresky & Associates, pllc, a law firm that represents people injured in accidents in New York City. He has represented over 1,000 clients who were hurt in construction accidents, scaffolding accidents, ladder accidents, workplace accidents, car accidents, pedestrian accidents, slips and falls, and other types of accidents. He also represents families in wrongful death cases. His firm has won over $300 million in verdicts and settlements for injured clients.
Mr. Oresky believes in direct, honest communication with clients. He personally meets with clients to discuss strategy and spares no expense nor cuts any corners to build his clients’ cases. He negotiates to reach an out-of-court settlement whenever possible, but Mr. Oresky ensures he is fully prepared to present the best case possible if the case goes to court.
Since going into private practice in 1992, Mr. Oresky and his firm have recovered some of the largest verdicts and settlements in New York State. Oresky & Associates, pllc, has earned recognition in the New York Law Journal’s list of Top Settlements for New York every year from 2010 to 2017.
He is proud of his firm’s successful representation of accident victims including multimillion dollar verdicts for construction workers, such as an $18 million verdict for a carpenter hurt in a fall from a scaffold, a $7.5 million settlement for a workplace fall, and $5 million for a pedestrian accident, among many other multi-million dollar settlements.
Admitted to practice in New York in 1987, Mr. Oresky worked at a multidisciplinary law firm in Westchester County after graduating Pace University School of Law. He assumed control of the firm’s civil practice within a year and then went to work for a larger law firm, narrowing his focus to personal injury law. He started his firm’s personal injury practice in 1992.
In addition to his license to practice law in New York, Mr. Oresky is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Bronx County Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
