Jennifer Behm is a Partner at Berardi Immigration Law and one of the firm's longest-tenured attorneys, having started her career there as a legal intern during her time at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. What began as an internship turned into a permanent home; today, Jennifer is a key voice in the firm's strategic direction and a go-to mentor for the attorneys who have joined behind her.
Her practice spans the full landscape of U.S. immigration law, with particular depth in employment-based visas, investor visas (especially the E-1 and E-2 categories), and complex business immigration cases involving multinational corporations. Whether she is structuring an inbound move for a global executive, untangling a tricky ownership chart for a treaty investor, or building out a long-term workforce strategy for a corporate client, Jennifer is the attorney other attorneys hand the hard files to. One recent E visa matter required her to translate a tangled web of cross-border ownership and funding into a clear, persuasive narrative for the consulate, the kind of detail-heavy puzzle where she does some of her best work.
Around the office, Jennifer is known as "The Analytical One." She has a genuine appetite for the policy weeds: dissecting a new USCIS memo, mapping how a regulatory shift will ripple across the firm's caseload, and turning that analysis into practical guidance her colleagues can actually use. That same instinct shows up externally, where she regularly authors and presents on emerging immigration issues for legal and business audiences, including a recent piece for the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York making the case that immigration compliance belongs on every business attorney's radar.
Jennifer earned her Juris Doctor from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law, where she was awarded the Arthur A. Schomburg Fellowship, served as Executive Editor of the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review, and led the International Law Students Association as President. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. She is admitted to practice in New York and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and The American Chamber of Commerce – Peel-Halton-Niagara Region. She is also a co-founder of the Immigration Law Committee of the Western New York Women's Bar Association, where she helps build community and professional development opportunities for women practicing in the field.
What keeps Jennifer in this work is the same thing that drew her in: the tangible, life-changing impact it has on the people she serves. Helping individuals and families build their lives in the United States, in her words, is a real honor, and it shapes how she shows up for every matter on her desk. Outside the office, Jennifer is happiest with her husband and their two young children.
