Barbara A. Castrataro

Barbara A. Castrataro established her eponymous law firm to provide personal attention and stellar legal services to families in Manhattan, Brooklyn,  Westchester and surrounding counties in, New York. For more than three decades, she has dedicated her practice exclusively to divorce and family law including litigation and trial services, and collaborative and mediation. 

Ms. Castrataro believes firmly that a dedicated strategic approach, tough advocacy, attention to detail are essential tenets of her boutique practice. She has a breath of experience managing a wide range of matters, including high-asset divorces, business valuations, property division, international relocation and complex custody and forensic cases, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, adult adoptions, orders of protection, post-decree modifications. Ms. Castrataro has managed a full litigation practice during this period, a skill which often facilitates a prompt settlement. She alco practices collaborative divorce cases and mediation. Known for her trial preparation and professionalism, she is an exacting perfectionist. 

Majoring in music, Ms. Castrataro completed her Bachelor of Arts at the LIU Post University in Old Brookville, New York, in 1984. She obtained a doctorate in law from New York Law School, where she was a recipient of the Moot Court Award. In 1990, she was admitted to practice in the state courts of New York as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Always prepared for trial, Ms. Castrataro seeks out creative resolutions to intricate cases outside the courtroom while staying ready to continue with a trial if a settlement agreement is unattainable. As well she also manages collaborative divorces and mediations.

Early in her career, Ms. Castrataro worked as a music director for all 3 major and well-known broadcasting networks. Subsequently, she worked as an associate lawyer in two different law firms and then eventually achieved partner with a prominent law firm before founding Barbara A. Castrataro, Esq. Her wealth of experience paired with her broad range of interests helps her be relatable to her clients and creative in her strategies. She is know for her personal attention and availability to her clients.
