Ms. Prudenti's career is marked by her tenure as the chief administrative judge of the courts of New York, a position she has held since 2011. Appointed by the Honorable Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, she was responsible for overseeing a vast court system with a substantial budget and a large workforce. Her leadership in this role was instrumental in managing the operations of over 350 court facilities across the state.
Before her appointment as chief administrative judge, Ms. Prudenti broke new ground as the first woman to serve as the presiding justice of the Appellate Division for the Second Judicial Department of New York in 2002. Her career in the judiciary began with her historic appointment as the first woman from Suffolk County to become an associate justice of the same division.
From 2017 to 2023, Ms. Prudenti served as the dean of a private firm, where she led significant initiatives, including a successful capital campaign and the establishment of innovative programs. Her efforts strengthened the institution's financial standing and enhanced the quality of its academic offerings.
In 2025, Ms. Prudenti was appointed chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Judicial Screening Committee, further contributing to her legacy of ensuring high standards in the judiciary. Her educational background includes a law degree from the University of Aberdeen, where she was honored with an honorary doctorate of laws. She also holds degrees from Marymount College of Fordham University and the Maurice A. Deane School of Law.
Additionally in 2025, Long Island Business News selected Judge Prudenti as a 2025 Icon Honors recipient. Icon Honors recognizes Long Island business leaders, over the age of 60, for their notable success and demonstration of strong leadership within and outside their fields.
