Bruce A. Barket

A founding partner at Barket Epstein Kearon Aldea & LoTurco, LLP, based in Garden City, New York, Bruce A. Barket offers seasoned legal representation in complex criminal defense matters at both the state and federal levels. His practice encompasses a wide range of areas, including criminal defense, federal court crimes, homicide and murder cases, white collar crimes and general litigation. Known for his strategic advocacy and courtroom skill, he has built a reputation for handling high-stakes and high-profile cases.

Among his notable achievements, Mr. Barket led the team that exonerated Cal Harris after two prior convictions tied to his wife’s death. He also served as a leading attorney in the case that overturned Martin Tankleff’s double murder conviction, resulting in Mr. Tankleff’s release after 18 years of wrongful imprisonment. He later helped secure $3.4 million in compensation from the State of New York and a $10 million federal court award against the police department responsible for the arrest.

Academically accomplished, Mr. Barket received his Bachelor of Arts from Central Connecticut State University in 1982. Later, he went on to pursue his legal studies at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1986. He was admitted to practice law in New York in 1987.

Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Barket has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional leadership and service. He has served on the board of directors for The Legal Aid Society of Nassau County and held presidential roles with both the Nassau County Legal Aid Society and the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County. His contributions to the field have been recognized with multiple honors, including the Gideon Award and the Practitioner of the Year distinction.
