Jeffrey S. Schecter

Jeffrey S. Schecter is the founder of the law firm Jeffrey S. Schecter & Associates, P.C., which has its offices in Garden City, New York. Primarily focusing on family law matters, he takes on cases involving divorce, child custody and support, equitable distribution, spousal support, modification of court orders, religious divorce, same-sex divorce, parental alienation, pre- and postnuptial agreements, business valuations, expert retention and fees, collection of counsel fees, contempt proceedings and marital agreements. 

With more than 37 years of experience in the field of law, Mr. Schecter has immense experience being lead counsel in numerous cases, representing clients throughout New York. His clients include people from various areas of medicine, law, business, finance, real estate, public service and entertainment. He fights aggressively for his clients’ rights and upholds their best interests. 

Professional and diligent, Mr. Schecter is well known for his compassionate approach while handling all cases. Graduating with honors, Mr. Schecter has a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and philosophy from The State University of New York at Binghamton. He studied law at the Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctor. He is licensed to practice law in the state of New York and before the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
