Clifford J. Petroske

Clifford J. Petroske earned an undergraduate degree from SUNY Stony Brook in 1986 and a juris doctor from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1989. He was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1990, in the U.S. District Court (Southern and Eastern Districts) in 1991, and in the United States Supreme Court in 2016.

Since handling his own divorce and child custody case over thirty years ago, Mr. Petroske has dedicated his practice to matrimonial and family law on Long Island. He is founding partner of the highly regarded firm of Petroske Riezenman & Meyers, P.C. (formerly Law Offices of Clifford J. Petroske), which consists of three named partners, three associate attorneys, and a longstanding legal support staff.

Mr. Petroske is well known among the Suffolk County and Nassau County, New York bench and bar for representing clients with complex divorce and equitable distribution issues, such as business ownership and forensic accountant analysis, commingling and appreciation of separate property, multiple real property interests and high net worth, long term maintenance claims, and unequal division of property. He is also well versed in complex child custody cases involving shared custody, father’s rights, relocation, parental alienation, and forensic psychologist evaluations.  Former clients include business owners, doctors and nurses, police officers, teachers, professional athletes, and fellow attorneys.

Mr. Petroske has negotiated hundreds of settlements and handled numerous trials, and has successfully briefed and orally argued a number of cases before the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court. He has lectured at the Suffolk Academy of Law and is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association Family Law Committee, the Suffolk County Matrimonial Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association Matrimonial Committee, and the New York State Bar Association Family Law Committee. In his free time, Cliff enjoys tennis, sailing, reading, and spending time with his family. He is remarried and lives with his wife and children in Suffolk County NY.
