Paul S. Hyl

Paul S. Hyl is a founding attorney of Hyl Conte Law, PLLC, in Lindenhurst, New York, where he focuses on estate planning, elder law, and related matters that help individuals and families prepare for the future with confidence. He works closely with clients to simplify complex legal issues, guiding them through the planning process so they can make informed decisions about protecting their assets, supporting their loved ones and preserving their legacy.

Mr. Hyl develops estate plans tailored to each client’s unique circumstances, taking into account their family dynamics, financial goals and long-term priorities. His practice encompasses a wide range of planning services, including the preparation of federal and New York gift and estate tax returns, fiduciary income tax returns and fiduciary accountings. He also advises clients on planning for potential incapacity, including the creation of Medicaid trusts and advance directives, and assists families in navigating the Medicaid application process to help cover long-term care costs.

In addition to his estate and elder law work, Mr. Hyl has extensive experience preparing business governance documents such as operating agreements, corporate bylaws and other entity-related materials, helping business owners establish strong legal foundations for their organizations.

Before co-founding Hyl Conte Law, PLLC, Mr. Hyl held several prominent positions within the trusts and estates field. He was a partner at a leading elder law firm on Long Island and previously served as a senior associate attorney at a boutique trusts and estates firm in Garden City. Earlier in his career, he worked as counsel to the Nassau County Public Administrator, gaining valuable experience in estate administration matters.

Mr. Hyl is also committed to legal education. He has taught as an associate adjunct professor at both Dowling College and Molloy College, sharing his knowledge with students preparing to enter the legal profession. He earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law. Through his practice, he combines technical legal knowledge with a client-centered approach, helping individuals and families put thoughtful plans in place for whatever the future may bring.
