A highly passionate attorney practicing law in the tri-state area since 2004, Matthew F. Rice is a trial attorney and partner at Fellows Hymowitz Rice, (and he is widely regarded as one of the top lawyers in the New York Metro area) a law firm with multiple offices spread across the states of New Jersey and New York. He works from the firm’s office in the heart of New York City and represents people who have sustained damages arising from personal injuries caused by others, construction accidents, product liability and wrongful death.
The never dying fire within him has always pushed Mr. Rice beyond his limits to strive for maximum compensation, even in the most complex of cases. His commitment and dedication to uphold the rights of his clients has brought excellent outcomes since the very beginning of his career. One of his most remarkable achievements is a landmark settlement against the City of New York, obtaining more than $8.3 million on behalf of a young woman who suffered partial paralysis due to the city’s incompetent maintenance of roadways.
Mr. Rice has worked closely with multiple construction companies, providing robust defense against lawsuits amounting to millions of dollars. He has also garnered extensive experience by litigating several high-profile cases, including the collapse of the East 51st street crane, the Con-Ed steam pipe explosion and the Staten Island ferry crash. He leverages his comprehensive understanding of strategies and tactics to dismiss claims and assist his clients in recovering the maximum compensation.
Along with being peer-review rated as AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Rice has also been rated “Superb” on Avvo. He is closely affiliated with several local and national professional organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the Westchester County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
Prior to receiving his Juris Doctor from the St. John’s University School of Law, Mr. Rice completed his undergraduate studies at the Cornell University in 2000, earning his Bachelor of Science degree.
