Alberto Ebanks

Alberto A. Ebanks is the senior partner and lead trial attorney of Ebanks Law Firm, PLLC, located in downtown Manhattan.

Mr. Ebanks practices primarily in the field of criminal defense, representing clients throughout the New York City metropolitan area. He has successfully handled cases involving all types of criminal charges, with a twofold approach: on the presumption of innocence, he locates the weak points of the case against the defendant and attacks them; if the facts are overwhelming, he works to mitigate the punishment to the fullest extent possible, often reaching jail-free sentence agreements.

As a former Bronx County Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Ebanks is keen on how the prosecution prepares their cases.  This experience and knowledge has helped his clients achieve acquittals and many victories in the court room. A practicing attorney for nearly 30 years, Mr. Ebanks has extensive litigation experience in state and federal court, trying over 100 cases.

Mr. Ebanks has been recognized for his professionalism and dedication to his clients. The National Trial Lawyers included Mr. Ebanks on its “top 100 defense lawyers” list. He holds memberships with the American Law Society and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has been involved with the New York County Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Recognized by his peers as being one of the top attorneys in New York City, Mr. Ebanks has been selected perennially to the Super Lawyers list since 2019.

Mr. Ebanks earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and received his law degree from Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law. He holds licenses to practice law before all New York state and federal courts, the U.S. district courts for the districts of Connecticut and Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia and the Supreme Court of the United States.
