One of the country's pre-eminent criminal defense and civil litigation attorneys, Daniel J. Fetterman is a partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP. Located in New York City, he provides representation to businesses and individuals throughout the greater metropolitan area, and he has acted as counsel in several high-profile cases during his distinguished career in private practice. Admitted to practice before all New York state courts, Mr. Fetterman is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Fetterman has represented people in several white collar investigations and trials. His cases have included allegations of corruption, securities and accounting fraud, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, and market timing and late trading. He has appeared on behalf of clients before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the New York state attorney general's office, among other federal and state bodies. Mr. Fetterman's civil litigation experience has included his representation of a plaintiff class in a case involving a dangerous prescription drug.
After graduating from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in 1983, Mr. Fetterman remained on campus to pursue his legal education at the Washington and Lee University School of Law. He was an editor of the Washington and Lee Law Review before being awarded his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1987. Mr. Fetterman was a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York before entering private practice in 2001.
