David M. Godosky is a distinguished partner at Godosky & Gentile, P.C., in New York City, with a rich background as a former judge and prosecutor. His legal journey has been marked by a strong commitment to cases involving police misconduct and civil rights issues. His practice spans personal injury for plaintiffs, professional malpractice, product liability, ethics and professional responsibility, and litigation and appeals.
Mr. Godosky plays a pivotal role in the firm's appellate practice, having presented numerous cases before the Court of Appeals. Following his appointment to the bench by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, he reconnected with his origins at the firm as a prominent trial lawyer, achieving significant verdicts and settlements that reached into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
In a remarkable legal triumph, Mr. Godosky secured a $25.2 million verdict for a Brooklyn resident harmed by an NYPD officer, earning recognition as one of the "Top Ten" verdicts in New York state, as highlighted by The National Law Journal (Sims v. City of New York). Another notable achievement includes a $7 million settlement for an injured ironworker, acclaimed as a "Top Ten" settlement by the New York Law Journal (Labatto v. Genting).
Furthermore, Mr. Godosky has secured numerous multimillion-dollar awards for pedestrians involved in traffic accidents, including a $4 million verdict for a 63-year-old woman tragically struck by an NYPD vehicle. His passion for law began after his undergraduate studies at Hamilton College, leading him to Cornell Law School, from which he graduated in 1992.
Since his admission to the New York State Bar Association in 1993, Mr. Godosky has captivated audiences with insightful lectures on trial practice for various bar organizations, gaining acclaim in New York Magazine. Renowned in the legal community, he is actively involved in several prestigious organizations, including:
- The Association of the Bar of the City of New York

- The Jewish Lawyers Guild
- The New York State Trial Lawyers Association
