Attorney David M. Pohl is a founding partner at Parker Pohl LLP in New York, New York. He solves problems for his clients through creative, relentless representation, including at the state and federal levels, at trial and in out-of-court negotiation. David is licensed to practice before all New York state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
After earning his law degree from New York University School of Law, David was trained at a major international law firm, as a law clerk to a federal judge, and then at an elite litigation boutique. In 2010, he founded his own law firm to provide top-notch representation to small businesses, individuals, and other professionals seeking cost-effective, affordable counsel without compromising quality. In 2017, David partnered with a long-time colleague to found Parker Pohl LLP, a New York-based boutique firm focused on high-stakes litigation. On each client matter, he commits a high level of personal attention and approaches his client’s problem as if it were his own.
David’s approach on each case is to out-work his adversary, driven by the belief that real strength and leverage derive from an unparalleled mastery of the facts, of the law, and of the particular complexities of the issues at hand. As a result, he is positioned at every stage – in a deposition, at an argument, at the negotiating table, or at trial – to obtain a superior outcome for his client. David enjoys complicated cases and efficiently identifying the key issues that will determine the outcome. He regularly goes up against some of the biggest law firms in New York City and, in other cases, works alongside them.
David also serves as outside general counsel to a variety of businesses, including in the creative, fashion, tech, and retail spaces.
Parker Pohl LLP regularly receives case referrals from some of New York City’s largest law firms and litigation boutiques that know Parker Pohl’s work and trust the firm with important matters.
In addition to his law practice, David serves on the board of directors of The Drawing Center, a Manhattan art museum and nonprofit exhibition space founded in 1977 that focuses on the exhibition of historical and contemporary drawings. David is also an active member of the New York Inn of Court, a lawyer’s association focused on fostering community in the legal profession and continuing legal education for practicing attorneys.
During law school at New York University School of Law, his studies included a clinical program at the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, an organization committed to a variety of racial and economic justice issues.
David graduated cum laude from Boston University with a degree in English.
