Deena Merlen is an attorney at Reavis Page Jump LLP in New York, New York, where she counsels clients on a broad range of legal matters involving corporate operations, employment and labor issues, intellectual property, technology and data privacy, entertainment and media law, nonprofit governance, education law and pandemic-related compliance. Her practice reflects a multidisciplinary approach tailored to organizations navigating evolving legal and regulatory landscapes.
Ms. Merlen received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College and earned her Juris Doctor from New York Law School, graduating summa cum laude. She finished first in her class and served as an editor of the Law Review. Her academic achievements include multiple American Jurisprudence Awards, the Trustees’ Prize, the Outstanding Editor Award and a merit-based scholarship.
After law school, Ms. Merlen clerked for the Honorable Roger J. Miner of the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. She then worked at another prominent firm, where she practiced for more than five years, concentrating on corporate and intellectual property matters. This foundation provided her with significant experience in complex transactions and high-level advisory work.
Ms. Merlen has also maintained a deep commitment to professional and nonprofit leadership. She served for more than a decade on the board of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, an international nonprofit associated with United Nations programs, including terms as Board Chair and President. In 2022, she helped guide the organization through a critical transition, leading a strategic acquisition approved by the New York State Attorney General that allowed its mission to continue.
In addition, Ms. Merlen holds leadership roles within bar associations and professional organizations, contributing to diversity initiatives as well as committees focused on entertainment, media, intellectual property and employment law. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York.
