Douglas A. Miro is a skilled intellectual property (IP) law attorney who serves as a partner at the law firm of Amster Rothstein & Ebenstein LLP. He accepts clients from all over New York including Kings, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. He brings great knowledge and experience to inventors and businesses seeking IP law services both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Miro recognizes how critical the protection of intellectual property is to a business’s persistence and bottom line. Over his 36 years as an IP attorney, he has provided IP assistance for clients ranging from startup companies to giant corporations in a broad spectrum of industries such as health care, information technology, electronics, entertainment, fashion, toys, finance, ceramics, blockchain and artificial intelligence. He handles matters related to copyrights, trademarks, unfair competition, licensing, patent litigation, anticounterfeiting, false advertising and more.

After graduating from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University with a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering in 1982, Mr. Miro received his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in 1985. He is licensed to practice in New York (1986), the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

A co-chair of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), Mr. Miro holds active memberships in the  American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Ceramic Society and the NYSBA’s Intellectual Property Section.

A passionate writer, Mr. Miro has written extensively on IP laws and has published articles for the New York Law Journal. He has also presented a seminar on “Emerging Trends in Intellectual Property” sponsored by the NYSBA.
