As a founding partner of Sapone & Petrillo, LLP, Mr. Sapone is dedicated to representing clients in New York, New York, and the surrounding areas. He focuses his practice on handling federal and state criminal defense cases that involve the following matters: white collar, financial, fraud, violent and narcotics crimes.

In 1992, Mr. Sapone received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Fordham University. He went on to receive a Juris Doctor and graduate cum laude in 2000 from New York Law School.

Representing broker-dealers, investors and chief executive officers, Mr. Sapone understands the severity of white collar crimes. He explains the situation to his clients in plain language and compiles key evidence to support their defense. Calling in expert witnesses and using innovative arguments, Mr. Sapone has routinely secured favorable outcomes.

As a testament to his achievements, Mr. Sapone has been named in The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100, and he holds an Avvo “Superb” rating. He has received a Citation of Honor from the president of the Borough of Queens, the Hon. Helen M. Marshall, and from New York state assemblyman Francisco P. Moya, as well as a Proclamation of Honor from New York state Sen. Jose Peralta.

A faculty member at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Mr. Sapone has taught at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. In demand as a legal analyst, he has appeared on a number of media outlets, including Court TV, MSNBC, CNN and Univision. Mr. Sapone is criminal defense counsel to the Government of Mexico through its Consulate in Manhattan. He is a recent past-president of The New York Criminal Bar Association, and is the current chair of the Sentencing Committe. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers ("NACDL"), the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York Council of Defense Lawyers, the Federal Bar Council and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers ("NYSACDL").
