Gabriel P. Harvis

Attorney Gabriel P. Harvis is a partner with the Elefterakis, Elefterakis & Panek law firm in New York, New York, where he co-chairs and manages the firm's civil rights division. A staunch advocate for the rights of others, Mr. Harvis devotes his practice to fighting on behalf of those accused of serious criminal offenses as well as those who experienced a violation of their civil rights at the hands of law enforcement, corrections officers and other government employees.

Throughout the course of his more than 12 years practicing law, Mr. Harvis has earned a reputation as a tenacious trial attorney who always seeks the most favorable outcome for his clients. Rigorous in his work ethic and innovative in his approach at devising the most effective strategies possible, Mr. Harvis has achieved notable success advocating for his clients in state, federal and appellate courts throughout his region.

A veteran of more than 350 civil rights cases, he possesses a considerable amount of knowledge and resources, which is necessary to help his clients find the justice they seek efficiently, and he has helped spur positive changes in the laws that affect his clients the most. A recognized leader in his field, Mr. Harvis teaches civil rights law, and he also conducts continuing legal education seminars across his area.

A 2001 graduate of Trinity College, Mr. Harvis obtained his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 2004. Along with practicing before all of New York's state courts, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Fully committed to his practice, Mr. Harvis is a member of the National Police Accountability Project and the Federal Bar Council. He also serves on the New York City Bar Association Committee on Drugs and the Law, as well as the New York City Bar Association Task Force on Mass Incarceration.
