Gretchen Beall Schumann

Attorney Gretchen Beall Schumann is the founding partner at the New York City law firm of Schumann Law LLC.  Ms. Schumann has distinguished herself in the area of family law in New York City and the metro area.  Her dedicated representation and commitment to her clients has placed her among the top female attorneys in New York.  Ms. Schumann brings years of experience when clients are facing challenges involving both negotiation and litigation, including in complex matters involving domestic and international aspects of family law.

The respect and reputation she has earned in her field make her a frequent choice for Continuing Legal Education panels and lectures for academic and corporate institutions.  Ms. Schumann has served as a commentator for the media and routinely authors chapters on New York family law practice for international publications.  She has been featured in The Spear’s 500, Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide, LawDragon 500 Leading Lawyers List and CityWealth. She has also been appointed as a Neutral Evaluator in New York Supreme Court. 

Ms. Schumann is the former President of the New York Women’s Bar Association Foundation, Inc. and the New York Women’s Bar Association (2010-2011).

Ms. Schumann is a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. She has also served as an expert for foreign courts on aspects of New York law.

Ms. Schumann began her legal career in 2001 after earning her law degree from Cornell Law School.  She received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University.
